Uncle, nephew arrested after high speed chase

WAKE COUNTY

The incident began at 12:30 a.m. when Cary police spotted two men loading wooden pallets into a rental truck at the Walmart on Tryon Road. When officers approached the men to ask questions, they drove off.

The officers notified the Apex Police Department as the chase went into the Town of Apex. Apex officers took over the chase near Ten Ten Road at Highway 55.

Police attempted to stop the suspects with stop sticks, but were unsuccessful and the chase continued onto U.S. 1 south, reaching speeds up to 85 mph.

Wake and Lee County authorities also became involved in the pursuit and the suspect vehicle was eventually stopped near Sanford. However, the chase continued on foot.

Authorities say the men fled their disabled vehicle, but were arrested a short time later.

The driver, 38-year-old Ricky McCoy Jacobs and his nephew, 19-year-old D'Andre Jacobs, are charged with felony larceny for the theft in Cary. Authorities say additional charges are pending.

Both men are being held in the Wake County Jail.
