NC-based soldier from NJ killed in Afghanistan

TRENTON, N.J. The Defense Department said Thursday that Sgt. Marcos Gorra of North Bergen died Feb. 21 at Kandahar Airfield of wounds suffered while supporting combat operations.

No details about how he was injured were immediately released.

The 22-year-old soldier was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C.

The division public affairs office said Gorra joined the Army in 2006 and deployed to Afghanistan in April.
