Firefighters rescue man after canoe flips

RALEIGH Sources tell ABC11 that the man was in his canoe on the water, when he ran into low hanging tree branches. The branches caused the man's canoe to flip, which dumped him into the ice-cold water in the river.

Firefighters from the Falls Fire Department and Raleigh Firefighters were rushed to the scene.

Authorities say when they found the man 'clinging to a tree'. The unidentified man, who authorities say was wearing a life jacket, hung onto the tree until he was rescued.

The man was taken to Wake Med and authorities say he may have suffered from minor hypothermia.
