Police told ABC11 Eyewitness News that someone saw a man get out of a car and put a suitcase behind a bench in the park. The man then drove away.
The bomb squad and the Biological-Chemical Emergency Response Team were called to the scene to investigate.
Nearby residents were also evacuated as a precaution.
When the bomb squad detonated the suitcase, authorities say they found clothes inside.
No one was injured and neighbors who were evacuated were able to return home.
