Goldsboro police arrested 62-year-old Richard Allen Pate Monday.
He is charged with statutory sexual offense and taking indecent liberties with a minor. Police say someone filed a complaint in February, claiming that Pate sexually assaulted a juvenile at his home in 1992.
The victim was not a student at the middle school.
Pate is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
