The attack happened around 11 p.m. as the victim was walking in a wooded area.
The suspect was described as being 6 feet tall with chin length dreadlocks.
Detectives say there is no information that would link this attack to a series of break-ins and rapes around the Fayetteville area. A regional task force has been looking into those attacks.
