Police: Man touched girl at Cary pool

CARY

Ashley Cooper Fuller of 207 Hyde Park Ct., Apt K, is accused of inappropriately touching the girl at the McCrimmon at the Park subdivision pool on April 30.

Apparently, Fuller was there to clean the pool before it opened for the season.

Investigators say the alleged victim - who lives in the neighborhood - was at a playground next to the pool when Fuller arrived and a conversation led to the bathroom where the sex assault allegedly took place.

"He's a 23-year-old person having some inappropriate behavior with an 11-year-old child. That's just not acceptable and we're glad we were able to get him behind bars," said Captain Michael Williams with the Cary Police Department.

Cary investigators say the girl ran from the bathroom to a neighbor's home to report the crime.

Fuller, according to police, was working for American Pool Services. The company did not return a call to find out whether he has been fired.

There are no similar charges in Fuller's criminal record.

Neighbors are grateful the girl was not raped or more physically harmed. But the incident has rocked their quiet suburban Cary world.

"Someone to be that sick to do something to a child is just atrocious," offered neighbor Joseph Jones whose property backs up to the pool area. "You're just not safe anywhere - anywhere you go. And always try to keep an eye on your kids. You really have to stay with them and watch them."

Fuller is in jail on a $50,000 bond.
