According to Detective Jonathan Merritt, Aurelian Springs resident Timothy Eugene Russell Jr, was repairing a gun February 18 and left it on a washing machine where his son could reach it.
Russell was arrested this week and charged with storage of a firearm accessible to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He was released on $2,500 bond. His next court date is in June.
