Troubleshooter: Cleaning job

CARY

Wanting her house to look spotless for the event, she contacted Tania's Cleaning Service of Raleigh in March to do the job.

The result was not what she expected, so she took pictures showing the dirt that she says was not cleaned up.

"The floors had not been swept or mopped," she told ABC11 Troubleshooter Diane Wilson.

Hunter says that was not what Tania's promised.

"We'll do a thorough clean, microwaves, regular dusting, floors and we'll go through and really scrub and really clean everything," she recalls she was told.

The cost for the job was $175, which included her entire house cleaned, plus the carpets. Hunter says when she returned home, while the carpets were cleaned, her house was not.

"First thing I noticed when I walked into the foyer there was dust," she said.

And when she moved into the kitchen:

"The floors had not been swept or mopped," she said.

With the baby shower looming, Hunter quickly started cleaning the house herself.

"I had to go back through and spent the next four hours cleaning everything," she said.

With the pictures of what she said she had to clean up, she next contacted Tania's.

"Completely unsatisfied and asked for my money back," said Hunter.

She says the cleaning crew did offer to come back and clean again, but she just wanted her money back.

"He said 'I'm sorry this isn't the service we typically give, we'll give you your money back,'" said Hunter.

Hunter waited, but no check arrived. So, she called again with no results. Next, she turned to the Troubleshooter.

"Within 24 hours it was resolved," said Hunter. "Thoroughly apologized and gave me cash back."

The owner of the company said he thought Hunter was taken care of earlier, and there was a miscommunication about getting her a refund.
