Elderly man found dead inside home

KENLY Police are calling the case a death investigation, giving no indication if they're even considering James Cooper's death suspicious.

Cooper's body was taken to the medical examiner's office.

Meanwhile, Cooper's neighbor, Bill Pearce, says Cooper recently started talking about his run-ins with people stealing from him.

"Last couple months, somebody's been in his house and stole some guns and a few more things," Pearce said.

Cooper didn't tell police about it, because there's no record on file.

Pearce also says there are rumors that Cooper's body was covered in blood. He says while he knows rumors are often nothing more, he admits they're making him and others nervous.

"I hate to say it, but I hope it was natural causes," Pearce said. "I'd hate to think somebody went in there and attacked him or whatever. I'm right here next door and the neighbor over there makes us nervous. It really does."

ABC11 Eyewitness News has learned that an autopsy report may be available this week.
