Raleigh bound train stalled by bomb scare

CHARLOTTE

Officials said they looked at three packages on cars in a rail yard at Tryon Street and 16th Street. That's near Charlotte's Amtrak station.

A bomb squad examined the packages and later decided they were harmless and the all clear was given.

Passengers on the Amtrak Piedmont 74 initially kept on board, but were later allowed off the train.

Officials said the packages may have been left by homeless people.
