The thefts began April 23 when two Yamaha and Honda four-wheelers valued at a total of $3,700 went missing from two residences in Bear Creek.
Detectives say they've collected enough evidence to link Knight to the crimes.
Knight was arrested and charged with two counts of felonious larceny and jailed under a $95,000 secured bond.
Authorities say Knight is not cooperating with officers, but they are looking into the possible connection he has with as many as 20 more stolen ATVs in the last several months.
Chatham investigators say they are confident more arrests will follow.
Knight's first court appearance is scheduled for July 26 at the Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro.
