Storms that moved across central North Carolina late Saturday have caused damage and inconvenience throughout the area. On I-40, an accident closed three lanes of the highway, creating large back-ups.

In fact, the Highway Patrol says it responded to two wrecks in Wake County, and two in Johnston County, all likely weather related.

Meanwhile, lightning is believed to have sparked a house fire in Durham, in the area of Whitt Road.

Firefighters knocked it down fairly quickly, amd nobody was hurt.

But a volunteer firefighter was hurt on the way to that fire - after his pick-up crashed at Saint Mary's and Bivins Road.

Trees and power lines were reported down across the area as well.
