Car sharing program coming to Raleigh

RALEIGH

Enterprise Rent-A-Car will announce WeCar at a press conference this morning. It will be the city's first car sharing program.

Car sharing programs are already popular on corporate and college campuses. WeCar already operates in St. Louis and Nashville, Tenn. A similar program is offered on the Duke and UNC campuses.

Thanks to the Downtown Living Advocates and the Glenwood Agency, WeCar is making its debut. It's an open membership car sharing program that will offer both residential and business communities with a new sustainable, cost effective mode of transportation.

Most of the WeCar fleet is hybrids and the company says all of the cars are fuel efficient.

Because sharing cars will reduce the number of vehicle on the road, the company hopes it will add to a cleaner, greener environment.

If you're interested in trying out WeCar, you can make a reservation online at www.wecar.com.
