Local artists are pooling their resources to help homeless animals.

The artists donated quilts that will available at an auction Saturday in Chapel Hill. Proceeds will go to the Independent Animal Rescue. The organization saves animals that are less likely to be adopted from local shelters that would put them to sleep.

The auction will feature art, jewelry and furniture. There also will be a Roy Williams autographed basketball, dinner at the Washington-Duke Inn and one night's stay at the Rosemary House Bed and Breakfast up for grabs.
