Elderly woman injured in home invasion

DURHAM

According to authorities, a man and a woman kicked in the back door of a home in the 3800 block of Hillgrand Drive just off of Morreene Road just before dawn.

Durham police say a man and a woman tied up an 82-year-old woman and then stole her 2002 tan Cadillac Deville with North Carolina license XTK-1423 along with jewelry, electronic items and firearms.

After the suspects left the home, the woman untied herself and called 911.

The woman's daughter and grandson told ABC11 Eywitness News the suspects roughed up the 82-year-old, and she injured herself while trying to get to her neighbor's house for help.

She was taken to Duke University Hospital for for a black eye, bruises and a laceration on the head that required stitches. None of her injuries are life-thretening.

One suspect was described as a heavyset black male approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. The second suspect was described as a white female with an average build and short brown hair.
