Two people dead after Fayetteville wreck

FAYETTEVILLE It happened around 2:15 a.m. Saturday on the northbound side of the freeway near Skibo Road.

Fayetteville police say a 1991 Toyota pickup was travelling at a high rate of speed, when it attempted to pass a 1991 Chevy.

The Toyota apparently struck the Chevy in the left rear, causing the Toyota to run off the right side of the road and strike the Skibo Road bridge.

The Chevy came to rest in the roadway.

Both occupants of the Toyota were pronounced dead on-scene. The two occupants of the Chevy were not injured.

There is no word yet on the identity of the victims.
