Trees toppled by strong winds

NC-157 at New Sharon Church Road/Orange County

Dozens of trees were toppled by strong winds that moved through the area early Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service received wind damage reports from many of the area counties as a cold front moved through.

Several roads were closed by trees that were knocked down by the wind.

One particularly scary situation happened when a large tree fell on a car on NC-157 at New Sharon Church Road in Orange County. The incident happened around 6:00 a.m. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol handled the accident investigation.
