Raleigh Police said the victim was using the machine at the Handee Hugo at 2800 Tryon Road when five men approached her and tried to rob her.
Shots were fired during the attempted robbery, but no one was injured.
The suspects were spotted by police a short time later near NC State’s Centennial Campus.
After a quick pursuit, the suspects crashed on Lake Wheeler Road at Centennial Boulevard.
Police said two of the men were taken into custody, but three escaped into the woods.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol helicopter was called in to aid in the search for the two men.
Police have not yet released the names of any of the suspects.
