Deputies searching for Hope Mills rapist

nvestigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office have a composite sketch of the man wanted in the rape of a Hope Mills woman in November.

Detectives say the suspect forced his way into a home off Legion Road during the early morning hours of November 24.

He assaulted his victim, attempted to rob her, and fled on foot.

A deputy with a tracking dog combed the area and last tracked the suspect near a vacant home, not far from where the crime occurred.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately six feet two inches tall. He has a thin build and is in his mid 20’s. The suspect has short cropped hair, a thin mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing a Roca style jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, timberland boots and jeans.
