Teen killed in Johnston Co. wreck

SMITHFIELD, N.C. State Troopers say Stephen J. Best, 19, of Smithfield, was driving on Grabtown Road around 4:25 a.m. Saturday.

That's when they say he ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, ran off the road to the left, and overturned.

According to investigators, Best was driving at an excessive speed, but was wearing a seat belt.

They do not know if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
