Investigators say Faircloth then went into another room and got a shotgun, and Tart was shot as he tried to take the weapon away from his stepson.
Faircloth was arrested at the home and deputies say he is charged with murder, assault on a female and assault by strangulation.
Faircloth is being held without bail and it wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
