NC State student charged with sex offense

RALEIGH

Dwayne Samuel Daughtry, 45, is charged with one count of second-degree sexual offense. He's accused of attacking a student who visited his home Saturday.

Daughtry is a sophomore and works part-time as a disc jockey at the school's radio station.

Police say he knows the victim through mutual acquaintances. The victim fell asleep at Daughtry's apartment after drinking at a party a different location. The victim says when he awoke at 4 a.m., Daughtry was assaulting him.

The victim reported the incident 24 hours later.

Daughtry is in the Wake County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
