A Nash County sheriff's deputy shot to death while serving a murder warrant was laid to rest Monday.

The ceremony for Deputy Warren Lewis at Southern Nash Senior High School in Bailey drew a large crowd.

Lewis was a member of a U.S. Marshal Service task force of local and federal police officers when he was shot and killed last week in Kinston. The task force was investigating a June 2 killing.

Sixteen-year-old Kion Dail, 18-year-old Lamont D. Byrd, 26-year-old Maretto Byrd, and 17-year-old Devine Slade all face murder charges.

Lewis, a 9-year veteran of the Nash County Sheriff's Department, was married and had two daughters.
