Driver leads police on wrong way chase

JOHNSTON COUNTY The chase started in Nash County around 1:30 a.m., when a SUV with New York license plates was spotted heading southbound in the northbound lanes.

The state Highway Patrol used Stop Stick tire deflation devices to end the chase near Kenly just before 2 a.m.

The driver was able to avoid the first sticks thrown out, but finally came to a stop after the SUV's tires shredded when it hit the second batch.

Authorities have not said why the driver, an unidentified woman, ran from police.
