Five arrested in Clayton homicide

CLAYTON, N.C. Johnathan Simpkins, Victoria Simpkins, Adriana Russell, and Adam Elliott were all charged with first-degree murder.

Aaron Howell was charged with accessory after the fact.

A spokeswoman with the Sheriff's office says deputies received a call on Friday around 3:59 p.m. from a man needing to talk with deputies about a "situation that he was just involved in."

That conversation led to the discovery of Arturo Cordoba Gomez, 18, of Clayton, who was found dead of a gunshot wound at 59 Booker Street.

The four suspects charged with murder are also charged with conspiracy to commit murder, and are all being held with no bond.

Howell is being held on $1 million bond.
