Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill stepping down

ABC11 has learned that long-time Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill is stepping down. He reportedly told his staff Tuesday, but did not give a specific reason.

Hill won a fifth consecutive term in office last year. According to a bio on his re-election website, the life-long Durham resident has been in law enforcement for over 45 years.

He retired from the Durham Police Department in 1988 and was first elected sheriff in 1994.
