This is the first deployment for several of the soldiers. Many of them are leaving behind spouses and new born babies.
They are going to the same area where 30 Americans were killed last month, when the Taliban shot down their helicopter.
The area is described as having some of the toughest terrain in the region because of its high altitude.
The soldiers will provide air support and medical evacuations.
