Around 7:30 a.m., authorities received a call about an accident on Sherron Road near Mineral Springs Road.
Sgt. J.G. Freuler with the North Carolina Highway Patrol said that a 1993 Honda, driven by 37-year-old Jennifer Woods of Durham, collided head-on with a 2000 Chevy pickup driven by 39-year-old Robert Porter of Wake Forest.
Woods was declared dead at the scene. Porter was not seriously injured.
Authorities said both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
