Tornado damaged cemeteries reopen in Raleigh

January 3, 2012 6:03:48 PM PST
Nearly nine months after the tornadoes swept through Raleigh two of the city's historic cemeteries are once again open to the public.

The Mt. Hope Cemetery on Fayetteville Street and the O'Rorke-Catholic Cemetery on Pender Street experienced a lot of tree and headstone damage in the April 16 storms. Work continues to restore the headstones and monuments damaged.

The City Cemetery remains closed. However, it's expected to reopen soon once it is safe.
