Pedestrian struck in north Raleigh

Raleigh police investigated a pedestrian accident in north Raleigh that blocked traffic for hours.

It happened just before 7 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Duraleigh and Pleasant Valley Roads.

Police say a female wearing dark clothing was struck. There are no street lights in the area.

Officers remained on the scene four hours reconstructing the accident that left the victim seriously injured.

All eastbound lanes of Duraleigh were closed for several hours.

There's no word on the injured person's identity.

The driver that struck the pedestrian stopped. Police have not said whether that driver will be charged.
