Rocky Mount school damaged by vandals

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.

Police said the vandals caused $10,000 in damage to the school earlier this week. They may have paint on their shoes or clothing.

The school's headmaster said the vandals, who appear to be four white males in surveillance photos, put paint on the football field, gas and hydraulic fluid on the baseball field, destroyed the batting cages, kicked in vending machines, damaged the announcer's booth, and stole the American flag.

Faith Christian's athletic director said it's difficult to make sense of what's happened.

"Why someone would want to come do this? They weren't looking to steal. They were just looking to maliciously do damage to the property," said Athletic Director Jimmy Hendricks.

The school is offering a $500 reward for anyone who offers up information that leads authorities to the vandals.

Anyone with information on this crime should contact Crime Stoppers at (252) 977-1111.
