Thief hits Raleigh consignment store

RALEIGH

The shop's owner is hoping surveillance video will lead police straight to the suspect.

"When I watched the film, the story got worse and worse as the minutes ticked by," said Nancy Alinovi, the owner of Adore.

Alinovi said the man walked into her store and walked out with loads of high-end designer items.

"He took some furs. He took some designer shoes, lady's shoes," said Alinovi. "He tried on a men's Diesel bracelet, never took it off. [He] wore that out. It's a big hit and the list is growing."

Alinovi said it wasn't until the man left the store that her employee realized something was wrong.

Alinovi hopes the surveillance video will help catch the suspect. She is planning to beef up security at both of her stores.

"We are definitely thinking about upping it, and investing in, you know, a few different options," she said.

In the meantime, Alinovi said the thief got away with thousands of dollars in merchandise but she will be bearing the brunt of the loss.

"We are able to pay back the consigners, those that lost their merchandise will get their full 50 percent," said Alinovi.

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the Raleigh Police Department.
