Parents and students have launched an online petition and Facebook group asking the Johnston County School board to reinstate teacher and wrestling coach James McNamara.
McNamara was placed on administrative leave earlier this month. The school district said an investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff's Office continues. No charges have been filed.
McNamara has been at Corinth Holders High School since Aug. 2010 as a history and civics teacher. Supporters told ABC11 Wednesday that they believe the coach is innocent and want him back on the job.
"There have been no charges filed. There has been nothing said about this case to the public or anybody about what's going on and we're very frustrated with it. You would think after three weeks a charge would be filed if he's guilty," said parent Mike Grindstaff.
124 people have signed the online petition and more than 300 have joined the Facebook group.
