Suspect assaults clerk during shoplifting incident

Fayetteville police need the public's help to identify a suspect from a recent robbery.

It happened last Saturday around 10:30 a.m. at the Family Fare store in the 200 block of Rowan Street.

At the counter, a suspect stuffed several cell phone chargers down his pants while the clerk was not looking. When the clerk confronted the suspect about the stolen property, the suspect assaulted the employee and ran away.

The suspect is described as a black male about 5-foot-9 inches tall with a dark complexion and possible acne scars on his face.
