It was a happy ending for the Durham Police Department Wednesday when officers found a 5-year-old boy with Down's syndrome who wandered away from a local elementary school.

The boy was reported missing from Lakewood Elementary School on Vesson Avenue early Wednesday afternoon.

Durham police moved in with more than a dozen officers and started scouring buildings and the land around the school. After about 90 minutes, a police officer located the child around 1:15 p.m.

After a quick check over from medics, the boy was reunited with his parents.
