Ten displaced by Raleigh townhouse fire

RALEIGH

At least ten people were forced out of their homes. Three units were damaged in the blaze.

Firefighters said the dry, breezy weather may have helped fuel the blaze, which could have started outside the back of one of the three townhomes.

Jordan Ferrell lived in the corner unit, which suffered the worst damage. He arrived home to see smoke pouring from the house, and quickly rushed to get his family and neighbors to safety.

"My sister was upstairs with the door closed," said Ferrell. "She didn't know whatever. So, I went over there, got here, came out, knocked on the neighbors told them the house was on fire."

It isn't clear what started the fire.

Fire officials said the flames were fierce, but everyone escaped unharmed.

The Red Cross is working with the families affected to help find them a place to stay.
