It happened around 9 p.m. at Haywood and Cabarrus Streets.
Police said 28-year-old Saquanna Thorpe was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the buttocks and hip, but it didn't appear that she suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police did not release a description of the gunman. No arrests have been made.
The case remains under investigation.
