The 35 year old was found dead in her Fayetteville home on Holloman Drive on April 11.
Officials in New Jersey said that same day, 39-year old Giocondo Navek, who was an attending physician at a Fort Bragg clinic, shot a former colleague and then fled the scene of the crime.
Navek was later pulled over in a traffic stop in New Jersey and turned the gun on himself. He died at the scene.
Fayetteville police said Givens and Navek met at Womack Army Community Hospital. Navek reportedly introduced Givens as his girlfriend during an Easter weekend trip.
Her family and friends still don't know why her life was taken.
In an exclusive interview with ABC11, Givens' sister Shay Eaves said she has one main question.
"Why? Why he felt he had the right to do this to her," she said. "We just want to know why and we'll never know why."`
Eaves said her sister had never mentioned the doctor, nor had she ever indicated any type of relationship outside her marriage.
While she doesn't know what happened, Eaves said Givens lived life to the fullest and she will miss having her in her life.
"I want her to know how much I love her," said Eaves. "How much her mom and dad love her. How much her brothers loved her, and her children and her husband and all of her family and friends and I'll miss her every single day of my life."
