It happened around 8:30 p.m. as the teen was jogging in the 1200 block of South Crescent Street.
The girl said she noticed a car pull up behind her. Next, a man got out, grabbed her by the hair, and then grabbed her around the waist in an attempt to pick her up.
The teen began screaming and fighting the man. She was able to escape, run home, and call police.
The suspect was described as an African-American male, 30-40 years of age, 6 feet tall, and 180-200 pounds with a long dreadlock hairstyle. He was wearing a hooded jacket and loose pants.
He was last seen headed south on Crescent Street in a small black vehicle with a large dent in the rear.
