Gov. Perdue's plane makes emergency landing

RALEIGH

Perdue's press secretary Chris Mackey said Perdue was on her way to make a jobs announcement in Davie County when the plane experienced unusual vibrations after takeoff. Five people were onboard.

According to radio traffic to the control tower, there was a problem with the aircraft's landing gear.

A warning light also came on.

"The pilots were terrific. The safety equipment and the personnel at the airport were marvelous," said Perdue. "It's nice to know if something happens that people are ready to take care of you. In the worst, today was the best. So, we're lucky."

The plane returned to the airport and landed without incident. It was being inspected by maintenance personnel.

No one was injured.
