The NC Highway Patrol said 35-year-old Arthur Doucette was walking along Hilltop Needmore Road around 3:45 a.m. when he was struck.
Doucette suffered head trauma and leg fractures and was taken to WakeMed. His injuries were not considered life threatening.
Troopers said they do not have a description of the suspected vehicle.
