Fayetteville Police arrested a man they said was responsible for robbing the Capital Bank on 225 Green Street on Friday.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a man walked into the bank and handed the clerk a note demanding money. He said he had a weapon. The suspect left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police alerted the public to the suspect's description.

Sixty-year-old Ernest Richardson Michaelson was spotted by a police officer while at a Walgreens store.

The police investigation recovered a shirt belonging to Michaelson that resembles the shirt the suspect was wearing during the robbery, as captured by surveillance footage. They found the shirt in a room where Michaelson was residing in the 300 block of Vernon Court.

Police also discovered that Michaelson was wanted in Connecticut for parole violation.

Michaelson was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond.
