The Fayetteville Police Department and Fayetteville/Cumberland County CrimeStoppers said they'll use a program that's been tried in other states with good success.
They'll soon begin distributing decks of playing cards to people who may have information needed to help solve homicides and bring closure to the families. Each card of the deck will feature a cold case homicide along with a toll-free phone number for people to call with information.
"These cards are going to be distributed in the Cumberland County Jail. They're going to be distributed into local shelters, as well as we'll be working with law enforcement for the homeless officer, providing these to the people that are simply on the streets. Some of these people may have some key information," explained Duncan Hubbard with Fayetteville CrimeStoppers.
CrimeStoppers offers a financial reward that people may be eligible for when providing information that leads to an arrest. The anonymous tip line number is (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
