Staff Sgt. Brandon F. Eggleston, 29, was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg.
Egggleston grew up in Eden, N.C., but lived in Raeford with his wife and two young daughters.
He had been in the Army since 2006 and was on his third tour of duty.
