It happened just after 7 p.m. Tuesday along Middle Swamp Road outside Gatesville.

Investigators said 21-year-old Anthony Demetrice Walker Jr. of Gatesville died instantly when the pine tree - about 18 inches in diameter - landed on the windshield and roof of the Pontiac Grand Am he was driving.
