Police said it happened around 11:20 a.m. in the 600 block of North Madison Avenue.
The victim, 21-year-old Khyrie Roberts, was struck by gunfire while standing in the parking lot of the Madison Meat Market.
Police said Roberts then ran inside the store. He was later found dead inside.
