Thunderstorms are to blame for a Saturday afternoon house fire in Cary, according to fire officials.

Officials said lightning struck a home on the 600 block of Kingswood Drive around 5 p.m. No one was injured in the blaze, but the house suffered severe damage.

In Smithfield, drivers had to navigate through flooded streets. At U.S. 70 and Market Street, crews brought out signs to warn drivers of standing water.

Viewers sent in videos to ABC11 showing pea-sized hail falling in Raleigh and Morrisville.
