The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office charged 30-year-old Brandy Jones, of Fayetteville with three counts of embezzlement, totaling over $3,000.
Authorities said Jones wrote checks to her fiancé from the Brentwood Elementary PTA's account.
Officials said the checks were written Dec. 5 and 7, 2011, as well as March 31. According to detectives, the monies were earmarked for a snow cone machine and other miscellaneous items that were to be used for school functions.
Bank officials contacted the PTA to let them know they had a negative balance, which sparked the investigation.
Jones was released under a $7,500 bond, but will make her first court appearance Monday.
