Alleged hit-and-run victim shot in Garner

GARNER, N.C.

According to Garner police, Macario Bustos had just left a shopping center on Jones Sausage Road and was sitting in a line of slow-moving traffic when a vehicle rear-ended him.

Both drivers got out of their vehicles, and the driver of the suspect vehicle asked Bustos not to call police. When the victim refused, the suspect allegedly shot the victim four times and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male driving a red late-model sedan.

The victim was taken to Wake Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Passengers in the victim's vehicle told police there were witnesses to both the collision and the shooting, as other cars drove around the wreck scene during the incident.

Police are asking eyewitnesses to call (919) 772-8810 to provide information.
